A Requiem Mass

Requiem is Latin for rest. A
Requiem
Mass is a Catholic funeral service. The music is known as a Requiem.
Originally sung as Gregorian Chant, the major parts of the liturgy were
later done as choral & orchestral pieces in concert.
More than 2000 composers have been drawn to write Requiems by the deep feelings that surround death. Here is my take on it. So far, I have just the Introit (The entrance dirge.) & the Kyrie Eleison. I’ll add pieces as I write them.Here are the lyrics to my Introit in G minor:

Free them from the lion’s mouth, and fron the darkness.
May Saint Michael lead them into the holy light
O Lord, we offer you sacrifices and prayers in praise;
accept them on behalf of the souls we remember today.
Make them pass over from death to life,
as you promised to Abraham and his seed.
