Emporor Justinian
Emperor Justinian I and His Retinue of Officials, Soldiers and Clergy, A Mosaic at Haghia Sophia.
At the conclusion of the Fifth Ecumenical Council, Emperor Justinian I is reputed to have composed a hymn summarising the council's conclusion, Only begotten Son. That hymn was since incorporated into the Divine Liturgy of (St.) John Chrysostom and is still widely sung today.

~ The Lyrics ~
From Father John Matusiak, OCA

Only begotten Son and immortal Word of God,
Who for our salvation willed to be incarnate,
Of the Mother of God and ever-Virgin Mary,
Who without change became man and was crucified,
Who is one of the Holy Trinity,
Glorified with the Father and the Holy Spirit,
O Christ our God, trampling down death by death, save us.

~ It's place in The Divine Liturgy ~
"Only begotten Son and Word of God..."
At the conclusion of the Second Antiphon the choir sings a short doxology to the Triune God: "Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen." After this doxology the choir sings the most beautiful of hymns, "Only begotten Son and Word of God..." This hymn, although short in length, holds a special place in the Liturgy. For in a matter of a few words it teaches us through Scripture, who Christ is and what His work was on earth.
