As you grow older you learn a
new
"Music of the Night." It's the clicking and zinging of nerves played
between
the obbligato of tinnitus and the bass of arthritis. Mine is usually in
a minor key and it changes pitch, rhythm, tempo, and volume until it
comes to a ritardando poco a poco al fine, as you go to sleep. So why
not write music about it?
This was written for Handbells
and played by the the Revelation Ringers of North Raleigh UMC directed
by Michael Glasgow. We didn’t get a good recording, but it also lends
itself to Vibraphone as in the MIDI recording here. The General MIDI
instrument
set does not have Handbells but Vibraphone sounds similar.
