The Basics...
The
music on this site may be download free of charge. You may
print and copy as many as you
need for non-commercial use. Contact me for commercial
use. You will need
Adobe's free PDF Reader for scores,
and a Media Player for MP3 sound..
To begin,
click on any of the song titles on the Site Map. That will either play it, or take
you to a page where you can play it, read a discription, view
& print the score.
To Hear the
Music
LEFT
click the name or "Click here to hear music" link and your web browser
will open the
MP3 file and play it through your MP3 Player. For the Cantatas &
Osiris Ballet, an
Indes page will open first. Click on a song name and it will play as
MP3 which can
played
back on any MP3 player. Here are a few that I have used Windows Media Player,
Winamp, Quick time, and
Real Player.
The
free versions are sufficient for most users.
To
Save
the MP3 files to your computer, RIGHT click on the
Filename,
and then LEFT click on
"Save
Page as." (or "Save as" link ) If you are downloading a cantata, you
might
want to
set up a new folder like "Nativity MP3, so it's easy to find, and save
to.You have to save one file at a time because each one has to
be named, but if you save them to a folder, each name pops up without
typing it. If you would like it as a
Personal Composer file,
or as a CD, so it plays in order,
Contact me.
To
View the score as sheet music, LEFT click the "Click here to
view
score as PDF"

transfer is completed, the music score should appear on your screen. The defauld
size may be too small, but you can easily change the
size to 100% in the upper Toolbar.See the botton note on
Osiris
To
Print the score,
press Ctrl + p, or use the print
commands on the PDF Reader File Menu, or toolbar. Your print Window may
give you the option of printing odd or even pages. (The Print command
on some older browsers will not function correctly for PDF documents.) If you have problems with the printout,
be sure you are using
the Print command from the Adobbe Reader toolbar, not the browser's
File/Print
command.) See the
botton note on "Osiris."
To
Save
the PDF file to your computer
after viewing it in the
browser screen, click

The PDF
ReadeYou
will need Adobe's free pdf reader to view or print the scores
offered on this site. It's
really free--no trial period, no shareware
fees, no payment or expiration of any kind. To download the Reader, go to: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
They provide good instructions so I won't
repeat them here, but do remember that after you have downloaded the
program, you need to then install it as well. Just locate the
downloaded file on your hard drive, and double-click it to begin the
installation.
The
Search
Engine
The "search" link at the top of each
page takes you to a search engine
provided by Picosearch.
It functions just like any other search engine, but searches
only the pages belonging to this site. You
may search using any word or phrase. Use
the dropdown list to determine how the engine will search for your
terms.
Personal
Composer
I write my music in Personal Composer
software. which is a wysiwyg
program that also plays your music as MIDI
instruments so you can hear what you write. It has a free PCViewer
program which you can download from pcomposer.com. You
can
view, play, and print scores, but
you cannot change or save them.
Transpositions
If you would like a particular
song in a key not available on this site, you can go to the Personal
Composer website download area,
and download and install the demo version of Personal Composer. This
demo
will allow you to transpose Personal Composer files into any key you
like. Send me an e-mail requesting the score you want to transpose, and
I'll be
glad to send it to you in Personal Composer format. Contact me.
